Desde 1998 la Fundación estudia, rescata, conserva y difunde manuscritos, con especial interés en los de al-Ándalus fuera de España. Desde 2003 participa en la protección del legado de Tombuctú, y tuvo un papel activo en la misión de rescate de 2012 durante la crisis de Mali. Su director presidió TIMA (The Islamic Manuscript Association) entre 2012 y 2016.Since 1998 the Foundation has studied, rescued, preserved and shared manuscripts, with a focus on those of al-Andalus beyond Spain. Since 2003 it has helped protect the legacy of Timbuktu, and played an active role in the 2012 rescue mission during the Mali crisis. Its director chaired TIMA (The Islamic Manuscript Association) from 2012 to 2016.

Abdussamad Romero
Abdussamad Antonio Romero Román (Puebla de Don Fadrique, 1953), fundador y director de la Fundación, ha dedicado su vida al legado andalusí. Estudió lengua árabe y estudios islámicos en la Universidad Umm al-Qura de La Meca y es doctor en Sociología por la Universidad de Sarajevo. Asesor del Consejo Supremo de la ISESCO, presidió The Islamic Manuscript Association (TIMA), con sede en la Universidad de Cambridge, e impulsó la Facultad de Estudios Andalusíes y el trabajo de rescate de manuscritos, de al-Ándalus a Tombuctú.Abdussamad Antonio Romero Román (Puebla de Don Fadrique, 1953), founder and director of the Foundation, has devoted his life to the Andalusi legacy. He studied Arabic language and Islamic studies at Umm al-Qura University in Mecca and holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Sarajevo. An adviser to the Supreme Council of ISESCO, he chaired The Islamic Manuscript Association (TIMA), based at the University of Cambridge, and drove the Faculty of Andalusi Studies and the work of rescuing manuscripts, from al-Andalus to Timbuktu.
Ada Romero Sánchez
Ada Romero Sánchez —Adiba—, hija de Abdussamad Romero, es especialista en historia de al-Ándalus y en paleografía y codicología de manuscritos árabes por la Universidad de Granada. En 2006 firmó el primer libro sobre el archivo de manuscritos andalusíes de la familia Kati en Tombuctú, y hoy divulga la historia de al-Ándalus y de los musulmanes de España. Muchas personas descubren la Alquería a través de ella.Ada Romero Sánchez —Adiba—, daughter of Abdussamad Romero, specialises in the history of al-Andalus and in the palaeography and codicology of Arabic manuscripts at the University of Granada. In 2006 she authored the first book on the Andalusi manuscript archive of the Kati family in Timbuktu, and today she shares the history of al-Andalus and of the Muslims of Spain. Many people discover the Alquería through her.
