The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), jointly with Jamiyah
Singapore, held the 2nd Forum of the Heads of Islamic Cultural Centers and Associations outside
the Islamic World, on the theme: ‘The Role of Islamic NGOs in Promoting a Culture of Peace:
Challenges and Prospects.”
The Forum aims to strengthen the relations and channels of communication, cooperation, coordination and networking among heads of Islamic cultural centers and associations outside the Islamic world; correct the image of Islam and Muslims and highlight the Islamic civilizational mission; promote dialogue and a culture of peace in the working programmes and activities of the Islamic cultural centers; address the causes of islamophobia, violence and xenophobia; and build bridges of trust and cooperation.
In conclusion, the participants called upon the Muslim World League to cooperate with ISESCO to organize the 3rd Forum of the Heads of Islamic Cultural Centers and Associations outside the Islamic World in Lima, Peru at the end of September 2018, in coordination with the Islamic Organization for Latin America and the Caribbean. By the same token, they congratulated Jamiyah Singapore, along with its President and members, on its 85th anniversary and commended its efforts to promote inter-faith, intercultural and inter-ethnic dialogue in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
The participants then discussed the papers presented, which all agreed on the following guidelines and recommendations: (English & Español)
